Duties and desired capabilities for Senior Software Engineer position include:
Designs, implements, modifies, tests, and documents software.
Produces well-documented and very clear code with extremely few defects that has logging and tracing capability and is unit tested; refactoring is rare due to good design practices.
Participates in overall system level testing effort.
Excellent working knowledge of software lifecycle with experience in multiple methodologies.
Understands architecture as implemented and is able to propose architectural extensions and perform refactoring tasks.
Understands interfaces and data flow, architectural bottlenecks, and performance limitations.
Very solid OO capability with the ability to coach others in OO tools and methods - own code exhibits excellent OO qualities.
Understands various database architectures and interfaces and is able to design robust databases and their communications structures.
Shows innovation and creativity in solving problems; draws upon different sources for ideas and solutions.
Independently designs and implements solutions to complex problems with a minimum of supervision where decisions or actions directly impact project activities.
 

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.  Graduate degree desirable.
A minimum of 5-7 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Object oriented design and analysis.
Microsoft client based development technologies: C#, .NET, Windows Forms   ASP.NET, C a plus
Microsoft server based development technologies: .NET, Remoting, Web Service, IIS
Strong SQL Database (ADO.NET, SQL Server, T-SQL, ADO)
Exposure / familiarity with the following technologies is required (direct experience is desired): XML, XSLT/DTD/Schema, other XML related tools and technologies.
Next Gen Network Communication using HTTP/SOAP, VPN, TCP/IP and Wireless a plus.
Experience with distributed objects over Internet/Intranet.
HL7 Data Extraction a plus.
